Style Highlights From Artist Project’s Opening Preview

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure to host an Art Walk – aka a guided tour – of Artist Project 2025. I’ll have details about what artists we visited with and why in the next Opaloma newsletter, which is out May 24th (subscribe here), but for now I’ll say that the theme of my tour was “texture”, and this year’s fair offered that in splendid abundance.

The fair’s Opening Night Preview party, which happened on May 8th, was also a feast for the eyes sartorially speaking. As with past Toronto art party Style Highlights I’ve featured in the past, I had no shortage of folks to feature in this post; this crowd was just as adventurous and assured, with multidisciplinary artist Dae Campbell sporting a stellar kilt-denim skirt hybrid. Vice President of Growth & Development at marketing agency Major Tom, Lauren Pybus, wore an amazing print two-piece, and content creator Renesha Monaco made me smile with her smiley face maxi skirt. Journalist Hillary LeBlanc caught my eye with a tassel top over Kaela Kay trousers, and stylist Bismark Adomako elevated a classic jeans-and-baseball cap look with a pale tie-neck shirt and monochromatic vest.

I was excited to wear a recent acquisition from, fittingly enough, the ZonaMaco art fair in Mexico City; I bought a fabulous bronze cloak from the iconic local designer Carla Fernández over a floral Ganni dress (one of the most fun and versatile pieces I own), some silver lace-up booties I purchased in Paris, and an ages-old bag by local brand Opelle. A bit of a mixed bag but I was in confident company here!
